When we talk about an A+ term paper, we mean that it is: well-structured, logically organized, the topic is covered completely; you presented enough examples and proved all your arguments. The other thing that is of great importance is the term paper style. Before you start writing your work, you have to choose a certain term paper style and apply it to the whole project. Here are some term paper styles:
- APA style;
- MLA style;
- Chicago style;
- Turabian style;
- CGOS style.
We present you the most commonly used term paper styles – the APA and MLA style.
General APA term paper style guidelines:
- The text should be typed and double-spaced.
- The APA term paper style requires standard-size paper; the margins should be set at 1 inch on all sides.
- The title page should include a running head for title, publication, affiliation and byline.
- When using the APA term paper style, you should place the running head and page number in the upper right-hand corner.
- The abstract should be a 75-100 word overview. You should state your main points and idea. The APA term paper style does not definitely require an abstract; it is up to the tutor. If written in the APA term paper style, it should be placed on a separate sheet of paper and follow the title page.
- Write a list of references. It is the last page of your term paper. According to the APA term paper style, it should be alphabetized by the author’s last name. If it is an article, and there is no editor or author, the work should be alphabetized by the first word of the article’s title (except An, A, and The).
General MLA term paper style guidelines:
- MLA stands for Modern Language Association. The MLA term paper style is used to write works and cite sources within the humanities and the liberal arts.
- The MLA term papers style provides researches with a way of referencing their sources.
- The purpose of the MLA term paper style is to protect writers from the accusations of plagiarism.
- The text should be typed, double-spaced, printed on a standard - size paper. Use the Courier or Times New Roman font.
- The margins should be set at 1 inch on all sides.
Do not forget that these are just some general guidelines. Before you use any of the term paper styles, make sure you consult your tutor or the manual, guide or a handbook. Most handbooks are available in the libraries, bookstores or at the web-sites.
