Expressing Oneself with Essays for High School Students
Writing essays for high school students is an opportunity to discuss on any topic that one is interested in, besides developing one's communication skills and ability to express one's opinion.
While it is easy for some to express their opinions easily, there are many who are not sure of how to go about writing essays for high school students as per requirement. This article explains the steps in writing essays for high school students.
Essays for High School Students Step 1: Selecting a Topic
Essays for high school students can be of many types. It may require you to conduct an analysis, defend an argument, compare and/or contrast, describe, narrate or summarize. Depending on the essay type, you need to think about what stand you are taking with respect to the topic or what aspect you are choosing to discuss regarding the topic. Only once you are sure of what you position you plan to take should you move to the next steps.
Essays for High School Students Step 2: Preparation
Gather at pieces of information or evidence in connection with the topic. Ensure that you have at least three points in connection with the topic. Understand them in terms of how they would support the position taken by you. You could use the library or online resources to help in this step in case the evidences are not clear.
Essays for High School Students Step 3: Writing the Introduction
Begin with the introduction that should discuss the stand taken as well as focus on leading this to the first evidence. The introduction should end with a sentence that allows for easy transition to the next paragraph that starts with the discussion on the first evidence.

The body should start with the first paragraph focusing on the first evidence. Ensure that a connection is made between the thesis and the evidence. Ensure that the paragraph ends with a transitional sentence leading the second evidence in the next paragraph. Similarly, the second paragraph should discuss the second evidence, the third paragraph should discuss the third evidence and so on.

The final fifth paragraph should restate the position taken by the writer and brief on the three points of evidence discussed to support the same.
