Parts of a Research Paper: Learning the Proper Organization
Once a famous American writer Alexander Pope said: “The order is the highest law in heaven.” Despite the fact he was writing about the heaven, one can apply his words in every day life.
Everybody agrees that people should follow certain rules while performing different tasks. It can remind the puzzle for children. You should always choose the right part; otherwise you can not make it.
If the order is so important, it could be successfully used in such responsible task as completing parts of a research paper, do not you think so? The matter is that research paper writing is a kind of scientific work the rules for which were established centuries ago. Of course, some innovations can be made according to modern requirements. Nevertheless, the research paper parts always remain the same. If you do not know them or just forget, your professor can give you a hint.
Parts of a research paper according to the order
There is nationally adopted structure for research papers which include some obligatory research paper parts. It should be the following:
- Introductory. In this part of a research paper you introduce the topic, determine its actuality, the level of being investigated, the method of investigation and your main tasks.
- 2-3 Chapters. It should be mentioned that this research paper part is the most interesting and valuable. The first chapter is a traditionally theoretical part of a research paper. Here the theory of the problem should be introduced. The second and third ones are mostly practical research paper parts.
- Conclusions. This part of a research paper is also very important as it reveals the main point of the whole scientific work. Besides, conclusions should be made after each chapter and then you should generalize them.
- References. This research paper part is also indispensable while it provide the paper with the level of awareness and analysis of the main approaches to the investigated question.
One should always remember: if there are certain rules you are obliged to follow them in order to be successful in the sphere you have chosen, especially when it concerns research paper writing.
