Research Question Developing: Specific Steps for Students
Students should remember that while doing any work, they are to follow some specific steps. It is like cooking a soup. First, one should make a broth, and then vegetables should be put there along with other ingredients and spices, depending on human tastes.
The steps should not be mixed as the vegetables will be overcooked, and meat will remain half-done. The same happens with other types of work. If one decides to be occupied with something, he/she should remember that specific steps should be followed.
We suppose that developing a research question is a good example that can be used for showing that steps are extremely important in any type of work. Here is a step by step guide for research question developing. When one considers it, he/she will understand that the mixture of those steps will lead to misunderstanding and chaos in work.
A step by step guide for developing a research question
- Students should check the topic for the research they are going to conduct. It is essential to choose a topic from the sphere students have good background knowledge in.
- Students should conduct a thorough research to create neither too broad, nor too narrow research question. It is better to create a list of research questions and then choose one which seems more attractive and interesting for a student.
- Students should check whether the research question they have chosen is researchable or not.
- Students should give their research question to the teacher for check. This is the final stage of a research question creation if a teacher confirms it. Otherwise, students should either change some information or start the work on their research question from the very beginning.
